- Documents Required
The UK Border Agency website provides guidance on the sorts of
supporting documents you should submit in support of your visa
application.
Why do I need to provide documents to support my application?
The UK Border Agency aims to make a decision on your visa application without interviewing you, so it is vital that you submit the correct documents with your application. If you do not enclose the documents they need, they may refuse your application without interviewing you.
Do you check documents?
Yes, the UK Border Agency check documents you provide in support
of your visa application. You are asked, where possible, to send
documents which can be checked by someone else. For example, it
can be difficult to prove that a mobile phone number belongs to
a particular person, whereas it is easier to prove that a landline
number belongs to that person. Whilst it may not always be possible
for you to provide these kinds of documents, you should be aware
that it will help the visa officer to make the decision on your
visa application.
Anyone who tries to make a visa application using false documents
or deception, (this means using a false document, lying, with-holding
information) or who has used deception in a previous application
will face a 10 year ban from entering the United Kingdom (UK).
Anyone who has previously broken the UK's immigration laws (for
instance they have worked illegally, overstayed for more than
28 days, came to the UK illegally or used deception in a visa
or other application), also faces a ban on coming to the UK for
a fixed period of time.
Do I need to send original documents?
Yes, where possible. It is easier to confirm that an original document is genuine, rather than a photocopied one. UK Border Agency staff can examine original documents to make sure that they have not been tampered with. We realise that some documents are too valuable for you to want to send them with your application. In these cases, please send a good-quality photocopy of the original. Make sure that, wherever possible, you do not laminate your documents. Student visitors must always include the original enrolment letter with their visa application.
Please note that this requirement does not apply to Tier 4 student visa applications.
Do I need to provide English translations?
Yes. The translations do not need to be notarised, but you must submit an English translation of every document you submit with your visa application.
What sort of documents do I have to show?
Everyone's circumstances are different. This is why the UK Border Agency has produced a general list of the kinds of documents which will help the visa officer check that you have met the immigration rules (use the supporting documents link below). It is up to you whether you send these documents, or different ones. It is your responsibility to make sure that you have read the available information on the category of visa you want to apply for. Please make sure that you include all supporting papers with your application, and do not send or fax us any papers separately. If you are submitting evidence of your (or your sponsor's) financial situation, this should be in the form of bank statements covering the 3 months before the date of your visa application - it cannot be a letter from the bank simply giving your balance. You should also provide evidence of your permission to be in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan or Tajikistan if you are not a national of any of these countries.
What happens if I don't send the suggested documents?
If you have not included the documents that the UK Border Agency at the British Embassy Office in Almaty need to see with your visa application, the official at VFS will point this out to you when you make your visa application. They will also ask you if you want to make your visa application, knowing that you do not have all the documents to support it. It is entirely up to you whether you go ahead with your visa application or not.
Please visit the UK Border Agency website to learn about the sorts of documents you should submit in support of your visa application.
All the documents are in PDF format. You will need an Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and download these documents.
